Amboseli National Reserve

Amboseli National Park – Introduction

Amboseli National Park is one of Kenya’s most breathtaking wildlife areas, renowned for its stunning views of Mount Kilimanjaro—Africa’s highest peak—and its thriving population of elephants with massive tusks. Located in southern Kenya near the Tanzania border, Amboseli spans approximately 392 km² and offers a classic, picture-perfect safari experience.

The park’s name comes from a Maasai word meaning “salty dust,” and its landscape is shaped by ancient volcanic activity. Visitors can explore a unique mix of open plains, seasonal wetlands, acacia woodlands, and the permanent swamps fed by underground rivers from Kilimanjaro’s melting snow.
